Spring Days on a Couch 01 April 2003-7:04 p.m. The weather is nice today. I love spring. Actually I just hate being cold and anytime with warm weather makes me happy. I live in a climate that gives me days of 70-degree temperatures in January, so I can't hate the winter even. But something about a spring day when flowers are blooming and the air is yellow from pollen. I just love it. I thankfully do not have allergies. If I did I would die. I laugh every day when I check weather.com and they have a little scrolling note saying that the pollen count for my area is dangerously high. No kidding. When the pollen count here routinely goes up into the thousands, and high is considered...around 100 I think? Yes the pollen count is dangerously high. I know this when I go outside and my blue car is a shade of greenish-yellow, and I have to wash the windshield to be able to see out of it. For various reasons we have now found ourselves the proud owners of a hideously ugly yellow and brown couch. It's residing on our porch until next week, when it will go live in the theatre for a week or so. Having a couch on our porch certainly makes us look like college students. But here's the thing; I went outside today and sat on it in the sun. WOW! Can we say great? Upholstered furniture outside on a beautiful spring day, it was lovely. I could have taken a nap. It may be an ugly couch but it sure is comfy. We were going to get rid of it after the show but I kind of like it on the porch. I might like to move it around to the side and put a hammock up on the front. That might look a bit classier. At least soon we won't have to worry about the color. It'll be greenish-yellow like everything else. |
