Hell Week Revisited.

09 April 2003-5:04 p.m.

All that nice stuff I said about Hell weeks is crap! Crap, do you hear me!!! Or maybe I'm just really tired. I have new memories now. Like the one of myself and Beth standing outside in the cold raininess that is the weather here, with buckets, pieces of wood, a bag of cement and some dirt trying to create a faux electric fence. Did I mention that it's after midnight?

We did it. Well actually we put the dirt in the buckets, then we put in the wood. After that task was accomplished, we filled the buckets with cement. This was special cement. It said on the bag you didn't have to mix it, you simple fill the bucket and then pour water in with it until saturated. How much water is that? Yeah we asked that too. we poured in water, it seemed to sit on the top, looked pretty damn saturated to me. You must trust me when I tell you that this was highly amusing to us.

But not nearly as amusing as Ben coming out of the dressing room and asking in total sincerity "what side do nazis part their hair on?" We laughed, but Beth, good director that she is, answered "the left" That was all it took, all he wanted was a direction. That made him happy.

The other highlight of the night was during the rock moving scene. Two of the characters move rocks back and forth from one pile to another. We kept careful count at first so we would know later how many rocks they needed. Except now that we're on the theatre the distance is shorter. So we run out of rocks. This was going to happen last night and Beth sent Jay out to bring in more rocks, while the scene was going on. He did. And it just so happened that right as they ran out of rocks he came in with more. He was they were out from offstage, so we see Jay scurry on with two rocks, set them down and run off. What was so gut-wrenchingly hilarious was the way he did it. Like some kind of demented nazi rock fairy. It was great. and he continued to do it. They'd move the two rocks he'd scurry back out with two more. It was delightful in a way that can't be understood if you are one of the masses that have sleep.
