Fictional Crushes 05 May 2003-10:07 a.m. As I wandered around the internet this morning I found this.Fictional crushes. Oh my. My list can go on forever. But reading it and all the responses made me want to write my own list. Because I could. Be paitent this is a work in progress and will grow during the day. First off I must say I was a Dickon girl myself. From The Secret Garden Colin was alright but I'm much more partial to the dark haired boys. I was I believe 10 or 11 at the time and Dickon was my ideal. Also at about that same time was Jim from the Trixie Beldan books. He had red hair and a temper but was eternally good. *sigh* and then in no particular order: Adam Eddington from Madeline L'Engle's books. I love this man. He's good, and wonderful and smart and he's a biologist. Brains are sexy. On the other hand I also crushed on Zachary Gray who is dark, troubled and a pain in the ass, yet how can you not love someone with all that angst? Gilbert Blythe from the Anne books. Come on ladies, you know you loved him. Every woman I know was in love with this man. This man and Mr. Darcy are everyone's crush. Suspect that Laurie from Little Women also in this catagory. Who's heart wasn't torn out when he didn't marry Jo? Silly to admit: Ford Prefect from The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy Oh yes. He was cool, confident, and a galaxy traveler. How great is that? It's the confidence that I loved. Tobias from the animorphes series. The lonley outsider one. And he had that "oh I've been turned into a hawk" trouble. Troubled is good. And the end of the series just about killed me. His love sacrifices herself and he has to watch. Oh the tragedy. made me love him more. Benedict from Much Ado. I have no idea why. I guess because he's a (oh the word has slipped my mind) But he is one of many Shakespeare crushes. Also on this list is Hamlet (well duh?) Mercutio, Prince Hal and others. Ramses and The master Criminal from Elizabeth Peters' Ameilia Peabody books. Ramses because he's just so amazing. He's smart. As I said brains are sexy. And he's a pacifist yet is constantly being thrown into situations where he has to fight. Oh and that long unrequited love thing for Nefret, yeah that. The Master Criminal because I like the bad guys. And he's not entirely bad. But he's certainly not a goody-goody. Vanyel from Mercedes Lackey because he's beautiful and conflicted and tragic and unatainable . Oh god I could talk forever about this man. Of course I tend to fall in love with most of her male characters. I also adore Eldan, and Skif, and Stefan, and 'Lendle. So really I'm pretty much a sucker for valdamareans. And we must of course touch on the Harry Potter world. Not as big a Harry fan as I am a Remus Lupin and Sirius Black. I can't make up my mind between them. Lupin has the "I'm a werewolf" angst going on, and Sirius has the "wrongly imprisoned" "tortured soul, blame myself for my best friend's death" angst going on. Both make me love them so so much. Then of course id my adoration of Strider, not Aragorn so much. I always seemed to like him better when he was just Strider. To think this isn't even a complete list. But it has all the major ones. The ones that truly make me squee with fangirly delight. Now you know I want to hear yours. I know you have them. Only fictional charaters and only from books. As Cassie said movies, TV, comic books and cartoons don't count, no visuals. Once we get into visuals there's a whole 'nother entry concerning Aladin and Demtrius (from Anastasia) and others. So we're sticking with books. |
