Oh Thank Goodness, An Update!!! 27 May 2003-11:05 p.m. Lets see in the past week or so that it's been since I wrote anything in here, I have watched my youngest brother graduate from high school, introduced the aforementioned brother to wine-in-a-box mixed with sprite (the only way to drink it), gone to my first Rome Braves baseball game, driven over 300 miles (putting the odometer at over 160,000 now), went swimming in the river, ate lots and lots of good food, and been reunited with a good friend. I have been busy to put it mildly. I guess I'll just write several entries covering al the stuff, although the thought makes me tired right now. The biggest event was that graduation thing I suppose. I had a wonderful time. The actual ceremony was like any other. We sat and listened to speakers, and then watched as 249 teenagers walked across the stage to differing volumes of cheers. My family members, being somewhat restrained in public were not loud cheerers. For this I'm sure my brother was eternally grateful. We are not a restrained family in private and can get quite odd. Anyway after the ceremony was 45 minutes of us trying to find our dear little graduate among the throng of 250 other people dressed in robes a peculiar shade between red and pink. Find him we did. I promptly took his picture. This began the theme of the day. I was, you could say, camera happy. He began to flinch whenever I came around, until, at one point, he forcibly kept me from taking his picture. There was ice down my shirt involved here. It was cold. He did a lovely job walking across the stage. Got his little cardboard holder with no paper in it, the actual diploma will be sent later. I was very proud of him. He worked very hard to keep himself number three in his class. Of course when I say worked hard I don't mean he struggled to keep himself that high, I mean he worked to make sure he wasn't number one or two as that would have obligated him to make a speech. Yes my little brother the underachiever. We had a lovely get together for him and four or five others who also graduated. They are all friends and the families like each other so we all went in together on a party. It was fun. I like my brother's friends, and a good time was had by all. I took many pictures. Afterward we cleaned up, went home and fell into food comas. At least I did. I actually can't remember what we did that night. *scratches head* oh well it must have been fun |
