Hey let's raise some money

Check this out! The men of Junction City Or. have made a nude calendar to raise money for their school district. While I find this amusing it's still a pretty sad state of affairs.
"All proceeds from calendar sales go to the Junction City school district, which has had to give up at least three classroom teachers, art, music, gym class and field trips after recent severe state cutbacks in education budgets." The fact that they have no arts classes and no PE is bad enough but I think this takes the cake: "the latest gambit to raise money for local schools in a state where teachers already have lined up to sell their blood plasma..." They have sold their plasma!!!! What kind of country are we running here when teachers resort en masse to selling plasma to be able to have enough money to run the schools? That's insane! And a nude calander! The school superintendent is one of the models. I think it's great that these people recognize the importance of public schools but it's tragic that they have to do this.
I read this article and then on a different page of cnn.com today I find this quote: "Congress is in the process of considering an emergency spending request by Bush for $87 billion for operations in Iraq and Afghanistan." $87 BILLION! Billions for Bush's war but we have a school district in which money is so tight that teachers are selling their plasma. What's wrong with this picture?
