This Boy, Father, Who, Father, Gave For His Country, Father. 03 November 2003-4:54 p.m. I have been a bad updater. So I will toss out a little story. Last weekend I went home for food, fun and band geekiness. I got all three It was lovely. However the very last thing we did was one of the oddest things ever. It ties in with the band geek. My younger brother plays trombone. So do several of his friends. Sunday night three of them were in a trombone choir and brother and I went to see it. We knew it was at a church. We were not aware that it was their evening Baptist worship service. We are Not baptist. It was strange. Strange again was the prayer at the end. One of broher's friends playing that night was scheduled to leave for basic training the next day. So at the end of the evening the minister or preacher or whatever, said a prayer. For D. That's very nice, I think it was a lovely thing. It wasn't that, it was what he said. "dear father, watch over this boy, father. This boy who has given his life for his country, father. Father..." You get the idea. Um given his life for his country? He's going to basic training, he hasn't died!! Good lord. It was all brother and I could do not to crack up. Brother looked down at his lap and refused to raise his head, lest he catch D's eye and totally loose it. Also the likelyhood of D. ever being called upon to die is very little. He's a valuble korean speaking genius. They are going to chain him to a desk and have him doing analysis until he has an out of body experience. I told him later to watch himself. paper cuts can be nasty. And then if they get infected...well it just all goes to hell. |
